We're aiming to raise $6,000 to support our school and library and bring the exciting Science on Wheels program from the Pacific Science Center right to our campus! Let's make this happen together!

Let's read, raise funds, and celebrate our love of books!

Dear McKenny Families,

Join us for our annual Read-A-Thon starting October 26th! By reading, students can raise funds for our school without selling anything as well as strengthen their reading skills. For 14 days we’ll cozy up with good books and have the opportunity to win prizes!

Why participate?

  • Support our school: Funds go toward library books, science education from Pacific Science Center, classroom software, McKenny Running Cub, and more!

  • Win prizes: Every student who reads 280+ minutes will be entered into a raffle for a Humble Cow gift card.

School-wide reward: If we reach our $6,000 fundraising goal Principal Havens will do the Cha Cha Slide in costume!

Prizes:

Most Minutes Read by an Individual

First and runner-up prizes will be awarded separately to grades K-2 and 3-5.

  • 1st Place: $50 Browser’s Bookshop gift card, cozy blanket, large Squishmallow, reading light, and a McKenny sweatshirt of choice

  • Runner-Up: cozy blanket and large Squishmallow

Most Minutes Read by Classroom

  • Most Minutes Read (K-2nd): Choice of a Glow Stick Party in McKenny Gym or Popcorn & a Movie.

  • Most Minutes Read (3rd-5th): Choice of a Glow Stick Party in McKenny Gym or Popcorn & a Movie.

Make Donations Easy by Signing up on 99Pledges!

We're using 99Pledges again this year for easy online giving. Here's how to sign up:

Create your student's fundraising page: Follow this link: bit.ly/McKennyReads

  • Enter your student’s info:

    • Add your student's first and last name, your email address, and the name of their teacher.

  • Share their donation page:

    • 99Pledges will email you a unique link to share via social media, text, or email for easy donations!
